The Great Hall at Painters Hall measures some 25m x 15m and is 6m high. The room required specialist cleaning of the gold leaf and careful matching of the original colours, all of which was done by hand.
The oak floor was protected by polythene, a layer of twill dust-sheets and a layer of hardboard, with the joints sealed with masking tape.
Six weeks were allowed for this project, but the work was actually completed in five.
